It's a hot one...

Happy Friday folks, we are in for a very hot weekend in these parts so I have plans to stay cool in the comfort of my home.  Perhaps whip up some non-oven using dishes like this garden salad from Laylita.  It looks amazing and I have most of the ingredients already growing in the yard.

And perhaps, enjoying this refreshing cocktail from Fresh 365.  Champagne, lemon sorbet, mint... what's not to love.  I hope you all enjoy your pre-holiday weekend if you are located somewhere in the heat wave please be safe.  ENJOY!!!!

Zinc

I'm seeing zinc top tables and counter tops a lot more lately and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with what I see.  I love the how it provides an "industrial" feel without reading as sterile as say, stainless steel.  It's not for everyone I know, and some may be turned off by the fact that it oxidizes but I think that's what makes it interesting and adds more character to a space.  What do you think of zinc?

You know I have a thing for stripes...

I love stripes, I think they are the perfect way to add some interest to a room without being too trendy.  I posted about painting stripes on my walls here. So, I wanted to share some stripey (is that a word?) inspiration for you all this fine Friday.  What do you think about stripes in design?

This is from Lonny Mag, and if you aren't peeping that online mag monthly, you should.  It's chalk full of beautiful, eclectic spaces.

This beautiful bathroom from Sarah Richardson Design has a subtle, yet creative way to inject stripes into the space and I love it.

This living space is glamorous times 10.  I love everything about it. The graphic stripes, the Lucite table, the convex mirror, the list goes on and on.

This outdoor room is awesome sauce.  How could you not want to enjoy every moment outside in this beautifully designed space?

This bedroom is so peaceful and chic.  I love the tone on tone combo for the stripes and the injection of gold finishes to up the fab factor.

Feeling minty

So I, like most everyone else right now am officially on board the "mint train". I love the color and I love how versatile it is in home design.  It definitely mixes well with many different colors and metallic finishes.  Now I just need to figure out what I can paint mint green.  Until then, here's a peek at some minty goodness.  Enjoy!!!

I love this kitchen, it's so glamorous but the mint adds a playful side to an otherwise formal kitchen.  And p.s how cute is the light fixture to the right of the window.

This is courtesy of good old Martha Stewart, and like always she brings it.  I love this office, how could you not feel inspired in a work space like that?

Another kitchen, completely different vibe than the first.  Definitely more of a cottage feel and definitely adorable.

I love the mix of mint stripes and the printed headboard.

This room brings it.  I love the gold metallic touches with the cream, dash of pink and mint walls.  Love, love, love.

I love this kitchen.  The mint cabinets with the beautiful marble counter tops are amazing.

This bedroom looks so peaceful and I am loving those window treatments.

Tough Week

Sorry for the absence, we've had a rough week and I'm finding it hard to focus.  So, here's a purdy little picture of a beautiful vacation spot (in Brazil I think) that I would love to be at right about now.  Thank you for your patience with my lack of posts, I promise it won't be long before I am back at it.  Enjoy your weekends folks...

Painted Ceilings

So my cousin recently decided she wanted to spice up her entryway thanks to this post here.  When she removed the drop ceiling panels to stencil  them she found a wood pitched ceiling in great condition.  So our wheels got to turning on what we could do with that.  I personally love painted ceilings, especially in a space like a mudroom where you can have the confidence to have some more fun and be a little more playful than say a living room or master bedroom.  So we were on the hunt for some inspiration and came across these spaces.  What do you think...should we paint, whitewash, stripes?

Happy Friday

I am so happy it's Friday, words cannot even describe.  I hope to have a pretty relaxing weekend enjoying my time away from work.  What do you all have planned this weekend?

I plan on doing a little lounging on the beach, I only wish I could look as glamorous as her.  I usually look like a sandy mess within two minutes of stepping on the sand.

And perhaps sipping on this rhubarb spritzer cocktail I found on Eat Boutique, if you haven't seen that website I highly recommend.  Everything looks amazing.

Entry

So I love a good entryway.  I think it's a perfect way to set the tone for a home.  I, unfortunately don't have a proper entryway and I know in our next home that will be on "the list" of things we are looking for.  Now, I am not really drawn to massive foyers, don't get me wrong they can be beautiful but I am much more interested in the smaller spaces that have an attention to detail that makes such a statement it blows away the grandiose entryways.  What type of entryway to you like for a home?  Here's a few I love.

Happy Friday

I hope everyone has had a good week so far.  For a short work week it sure does feel like I've worked three weeks in one. Unfortunately, I don't think the weekend will allow much time for relaxation.

We plan on having a multi-family yard sale at our home on Saturday Morning, bright and early at 7:00am.  I can only hope ours is as organized and successful as the one pictured here from Real Simple.  Somehow, I doubt since I just starting getting stuff together last night, haven't cleaned the dust off of anything, priced anything or even thought about how it would be "styled" at the sale.  On a plus note, I did put the add on craigslist last weekend for it, so I guess that's a step in the right direction.

I also need to starting working on the pillow covers I'm making for a client, she chose this beautiful coral fabric and I love it.  It will add such a nice pop of color to her living room and it's perfect for a home that is filled with two beach lovers.

I myself have been sitting on some table napkins from World Market that I'd hope to turn into throw pillows for my bedroom and would like to tackle that too.  World Market has a great selection of cloth napkins at really great prices and they are the perfect size for covering throw pillows. We'll see...no promises.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, enjoy!!
